Song lyrics you thought you knew...then you find out they're different

Did you ever think you know the lyrics to a song and then find out the lyrics are different?
I thought (up until today) that in 'Things People Say' it went 'we even put the pavement down', but it's actually 'we even put the payment down'. Now that I think of it, it makes more sense, haha. for the longest I was singing along, 'pavement'. :)

Yessss!!! I thought the exact same thing as you for this song, I'm thinking okay they're building the house from scratch, putting the pavement down lol :) then at some point I think I realized maybe it was actually payment instead. Haha you're not alone :)
